What Are Denture Implants?
A denture implant, also known as an implant-supported denture is a dental prosthetic that combines traditional dentures with dental implants for enhanced stability and functionality.

Unlike conventional dentures, which rely solely on suction or adhesives, implant-supported dentures are securely anchored to dental implants surgically placed in the jawbone, providing a more secure and comfortable fit for individuals with missing teeth.

This innovative approach improves chewing efficiency, speech, and overall oral function while preventing issues like slippage or discomfort often associated with traditional dentures.

Step 2: Pre-treatment (if required)

To ensure the success of your denture implant treatment, you may need complete some or all of the following pre-treatments:

Pre-treatments may include:
Creating a digital impression of your mouth
A radiographic exam (X-ray)
A 3d radiographic exam (Canaray)
Tooth extraction
Sinus lift
Bone grafting

Note: Pre-treatment costs will be explained during the consultation

Step 3: Surgical Phase

During the surgical phase, Dr. Paparisto places 2 to 4 dental implants per arch into the jawbone. This is a minimally invasive surgical technique that uses a local anesthesia to manage pain.

During the procedure, each implant is strategically positioned within the jaw to provide maximum support and stability for the denture.

To complete this step, every patient receives a temporary denture that will be worn until the implants have healed.

Step 4: Healing Phase

For most patients, the healing process usually takes 2 to 3 months. During that time, the temporary denture enables patients to resume their daily activities while their new implants integrate with their jawbone. This process is known as osseointegration.

During osseointegration, a solid and durable bond is formed between the implants and the jawbone to create a stable foundation for the permanent implant denture.

Step 5: Add the denture

Once the healing phase is complete, the next step involves replacing the temporary denture with a custom permanent denture that is securely fastened to your implants. Finally, to complete the treatment, Dr. Paparisto will schedule a post-operative follow up appointment with you as well as provide detailed instructions on how to take care of your implants and dentures.

Key Benefits vs Traditional Dentures

Benefit 1: Stability and Support

Denture implants will not slip or shift to significantly reduce the amount of friction on the gums. Plus, unlike traditional dentures, there are no messy sticky pastes or messy adhesives.
Denture implants won't slip or shift
Less friction on the gums
No messy pastes or adhesives
Eat and smile with total confidence!
Denture Implants are more stable and secure. They stay in place without the use of pastes or adhesives.

Benefit 2: No Palette

Unlike a traditional full denture, denture implants have no palette. Not having a palette can signficantly improve your speech and ability to enjoy flavourful foods.

Plus, with no palette, denture implants are less prone to wear and tear and require far less maintenance.
Denture implants are palette free!
Improved speech vs traditional dentures
Improved eating experience
Built-to-last a lifetime!
Enjoy a more natural feel with no hard palette

Benefit 3: Avoid bone loss

When you're missing one or more teeth, the mass of bone in your jaw can deteriorate by as much as 25% in the first year. Once this bone is lost, it must be artificially recreated using a costly and time consuming process known as bone grafting.

Benefit 4: Prevent Shifting Teeth

Even though teeth are securely connected to the jawbone, they can still move and change position when one or more teeth are missing. When there are many gaps left by missing teeth, your neighboring teeth can shift significantly affecting your entire bite.

Benefit 5: Maintain Your Facial Structure

Your teeth play an important role in maintaining the appearance and structure of your face. It might be unexpected, but not having teeth can greatly affect how you look. As your jaw bone shrinks over time, the missing bone can make your face appear less healthy and youthful.

Over time, missing teeth cause your cheeks to sink inward, altering your appearance

Am I A Good Candidate For Denture Implants?

If you're in good health then you're likely eligible for denture implant treatment. To know for certain, you'll need to schedule a consultation with a dentist.

During the consultation, your dentist will examine your overall oral health and then determine if you have enough bone to support several implants.

If there is not enough bone, your dentist may recommend a treatment known as bone grafting.

Bone grafting involves inserting a synthetic "bone-like" material into the jaw. It is used when a patient lacks enough natural bone to support an implant.
